This report critically examines the KS2 MFL under the policy of National Curriculum, with a particular focus on the teaching and implementation of Chinese as an MFL. It explores the function of the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) in ensuring responsibility for educational quality. By analyzing policy achievements and challenges, the report also draws on insights from a researcher’s perspective on policy evaluation and an educator’s hands-on experience in teaching Chinese. Recommendations are provided to address existing gaps, and highlight the importance of equal access, effective support systems, and better alignment between policy goals and classroom practices.
