Against the backdrop of rapid urbanization and profound demographic restructuring, health and wellness tourism serves as an important link to promote the flow of urban-rural factors and the integration of business formats. Taking the Xi'an Metropolitan Area as the research object and based on the perspective of urban-rural integration, this paper combs through its development foundation and integration effects of health and wellness tourism, and analyzes the practical dilemmas such as the lack of overall planning, product homogeneity, lagging infrastructure, and the singleness of investment and financing channels. Relying on the urban-rural dual endowments, the Xi'an Metropolitan Area has formed a spatial pattern of "one a core leading, multiple poles supporting, and corridors connecting", yet it is still restricted by the urban-rural dual structure. Based on this, the paper puts forward optimization paths from the aspects of improving planning and deepening industrial integration, providing references for the high-quality development of regional health and wellness tourism and similar domestic metropolitan areas.
